Overview

**INO-1800** is an investigational therapeutic synthetic DNA vaccine developed by Inovio Pharmaceuticals for chronic hepatitis B. The product consists of plasmid DNA constructs encoding hepatitis B surface antigen and a consensus hepatitis B core antigen sequence. Administered by intramuscular injection followed by CELLECTRA electroporation, it is intended to drive antigen expression in vivo and restore or augment hepatitis B virus-specific cellular and humoral immune responses, particularly antiviral T-cell activity, in people with chronic infection receiving nucleos(t)ide analogue therapy. INO-1800 was evaluated in the completed Phase 1 HBV-001 study, including arms with and without the separate interleukin-12 DNA plasmid immunotherapy INO-9112. Roche previously held development rights through a collaboration with Inovio, but returned rights to Inovio after terminating the collaboration in 2016.
