Overview

INO-1800 + INO-9112 is an investigational DNA immunotherapy combination developed by Inovio Pharmaceuticals for the treatment of chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection. The regimen consists of two DNA plasmids: INO-1800, which encodes the Hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) and Hepatitis B core antigen (HBcAg), and INO-9112, which encodes human interleukin-12 (IL-12) to act as an immune activator. Delivered via intramuscular injection followed by electroporation using the CELLECTRA device, the therapy is designed to generate a robust, virus-specific T-cell response, particularly CD8+ killer T cells, to clear chronically infected liver cells. The combination was evaluated in Phase I clinical trials in patients already receiving nucleos(t)ide analogue treatment. Although Roche initially partnered with Inovio to develop the program (designating INO-1800 as RG7795), the collaboration was discontinued in 2016, and all rights were returned to Inovio.
