Overview

INO-3106 is a DNA-based immunotherapy developed by Inovio for the treatment of recurrent respiratory papillomatosis (RRP), a rare disease caused primarily by human papillomavirus type 6 (HPV 6). It is designed as a plasmid DNA vaccine encoding the E6 and E7 genes of HPV 6, aiming to stimulate an immune response specifically against cells expressing these viral proteins. The therapy works by inducing cytotoxic T lymphocytes that target and destroy HPV 6-infected cells, thereby reducing or eliminating tumor growths in the respiratory tract. Clinical studies have shown that INO-3106 can generate robust cellular immune responses and has demonstrated preliminary efficacy in reducing the need for surgical interventions in RRP patients[1][2][3][5][6].
