Overview

INO-3609 is a DNA-based universal influenza vaccine candidate developed by Inovio Pharmaceuticals. It is designed to provide immunization against both the H5N1 and H1N1 subtypes of the Influenza A virus. The product utilizes Inovio's proprietary SynCon technology to generate a multi-subtype DNA plasmid encoding antigens from these viral strains. Administration is performed with electroporation to enhance cellular uptake and immune response. The mechanism of action involves immunostimulation—eliciting an immune response capable of recognizing and neutralizing multiple strains of Influenza A virus[2][1]. Its primary indication was for the prevention of disease caused by pandemic or seasonal Influenza A viruses.
