Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**INO-4802** is an investigational **DNA vaccine** developed by **INOVIO Pharmaceuticals** for prevention of **COVID-19** caused by **SARS-CoV-2** variants. It is a synthetic plasmid DNA immunotherapy encoding a **pan-spike immunogen** designed from overlapping spike mutations observed across multiple geographic regions, with the goal of eliciting broad, cross-reactive humoral and cellular immunity against existing and potentially future variants of concern. The vaccine is administered by **intradermal injection followed by electroporation** and has been described as suitable for use both as a primary vaccine and as a heterologous booster. Preclinical studies reported neutralizing antibody and T-cell responses against multiple SARS-CoV-2 variants including the original Wuhan strain, Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta, and Omicron-related variants.
