Overview

INO-A002 is a DNA-encoded monoclonal antibody (dMAb) developed for the prevention and treatment of Zika virus infection. The drug consists of a DNA plasmid encoding an anti-Zika virus monoclonal antibody, which is delivered intramuscularly using Inovio's proprietary CELLECTRA device. Once inside the body, the genetic instructions enable host cells to produce the therapeutic antibody *in vivo*, offering rapid and efficient production compared to traditional monoclonal antibodies. The mechanism of action includes stimulating immune responses such as antibody-dependent cell cytotoxicity and natural killer cell activation. INO-A002 represents a novel approach to passive immunization against infectious diseases by enabling direct *in vivo* expression of protective antibodies[1][2][3][4][6][8]. Developed by Inovio Pharmaceuticals and the University of Pennsylvania.
