Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Inonotusin A (MSID001071) is a natural polyphenol and pyrone derivative isolated from medicinal fungi, such as *Inonotus hispidus*, *Boletus bellinii*, and *Boletus subtomentosus*. It has been investigated for its antioxidant, antiviral, and antineoplastic properties. In-silico screening and molecular dynamics simulations have identified inonotusin A as a potential inhibitor of cyclin-dependent kinases 4 and 6 (CDK4/6), which are key regulators of cell cycle progression. In vitro studies have demonstrated that inonotusin A exhibits cytotoxic activity against MCF-7 breast cancer cells and antiviral activity against Herpes Simplex Virus type 2 (HSV-2) and Coxsackie Virus B type 3 (CVB-3).
