Drug intelligence / Profile preview
An iNOS radioligand is a radiolabeled imaging agent designed to target inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS), an enzyme upregulated during microglial activation and neuroinflammation. These radioligands are developed for use in positron emission tomography (PET) or single-photon emission tomography (SPECT) imaging to noninvasively monitor oxidative stress and neuroinflammatory dynamics. In preclinical models of Parkinson's disease, iNOS-targeting radioligands have demonstrated a strong association with alpha-synuclein pathology and microglial density, offering a promising alternative to traditional neuroinflammation targets like TSPO.
