Overview
HEXANITON (inositol hexanicotinate) is a small molecule pharmaceutical product developed by NI-THE Pharmaceuticals, primarily indicated for the treatment of vitamin deficiency and peripheral vascular disorders. Chemically, it is an ester of inositol and nicotinic acid (niacin), consisting of six molecules of niacin bonded to a single inositol molecule. It functions as a prodrug that is slowly hydrolyzed in the body to release niacin and inositol. This slow-release mechanism provides the therapeutic benefits of niacin, such as vasodilation and lipid modulation, while significantly reducing the incidence of niacin flush, a common side effect of immediate-release nicotinic acid. It is used clinically to improve blood flow in conditions like Raynaud's disease and intermittent claudication.
