Overview

INP107 is an investigational, intranasal, drug–device combination product that delivers a formulation of carbidopa and levodopa to the vascular-rich upper nasal cavity using Impel Pharmaceuticals’ POD technology for the treatment of Parkinson’s disease motor symptoms and OFF episodes. Designed to provide rapid, reliable systemic levodopa exposure while avoiding gastrointestinal variability and first-pass metabolism, INP107 pairs levodopa, a dopamine precursor, with carbidopa, an aromatic L‑amino acid decarboxylase inhibitor that reduces peripheral levodopa conversion and associated side effects. Early-phase studies, including a Phase 2a trial of INP107 and a levodopa-only intranasal formulation, demonstrated encouraging pharmacokinetics supportive of further development as a non‑invasive, self‑ or caregiver‑administered alternative or adjunct to oral carbidopa/levodopa regimens in Parkinson’s disease.[3][4][12]
