INS018_055 (also known as ISM001-055) is a first-in-class, small molecule inhibitor discovered by Insilico Medicine using its proprietary generative artificial intelligence platform, Pharma.AI. It is designed to target TRAF2- and NCK-interacting kinase (TNIK), a protein identified through AI as a key driver in the signaling pathways that promote fibrosis. The drug is primarily being developed for the treatment of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), a chronic, progressive, and often fatal lung disease characterized by the scarring of lung tissue. INS018_055 represents a significant milestone in biotechnology as one of the first AI-discovered and AI-designed molecules to enter Phase II clinical trials, demonstrating the potential of AI to accelerate the identification of novel targets and the optimization of drug candidates.
