Overview

**INSCOP** is an investigational intranasal gel formulation of scopolamine hydrobromide, an anticholinergic agent developed primarily for rapid prevention and treatment of motion sickness, including space motion sickness experienced by astronauts. It acts as a competitive antagonist at muscarinic acetylcholine receptors, inhibiting muscarinic actions in the central nervous system to suppress nausea, vomiting, and vertigo. The gel provides fast absorption (measurable plasma levels within 5-15 minutes, peak at ~1 hour), dose-linear pharmacokinetics (0.1-0.4 mg doses), higher bioavailability than oral scopolamine (avoiding first-pass metabolism), and prolonged nasal residence time compared to aqueous forms, with good tolerability and minimal cognitive/sedative side effects.[1][3][9][13]
