Drug intelligence / Profile preview
HOE21PH (also known as Hoechst 21PH or Hoe21PH) is a specialized formulation of regular human insulin developed for use in implantable pump systems. It is primarily used in the management of type 1 diabetes mellitus via continuous intraperitoneal or subcutaneous infusion. The compound was designed to be stable over long periods within the reservoir of an implantable pump and to minimize degradation or aggregation that could occur with standard insulins under these conditions. Its mechanism of action is identical to other forms of human insulin—binding to the insulin receptor and promoting glucose uptake into tissues—but its formulation allows for reliable delivery through closed-loop artificial pancreas systems and implantable devices[2][3][4]. Studies have evaluated its antigenicity and clinical performance compared to other routes and formulations.
