Overview

Insulin A21G is a **modified human insulin analog** in which glycine replaces asparagine at position A21 of the insulin A chain. It is the principal metabolite of insulin glargine and has pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic properties reported to be broadly similar to human insulin. In development by **Adocia** as the insulin component of the fixed-ratio co-formulation **ADO09** for **type 1 diabetes**, insulin A21G provides insulin receptor agonism to promote peripheral glucose uptake and suppress hepatic glucose production; in ADO09 it is paired with pramlintide to add amylin-like control of postprandial glucose excursions. The queried entity here is the insulin A21G active substance itself, not the ADO09 combination product.
