Overview

This is a combination of three distinct recombinant human insulin analogs used in the management of diabetes mellitus. Insulin aspart is a rapid-acting insulin analog, typically administered at mealtimes to control postprandial blood glucose spikes. Insulin detemir and insulin glargine are both long-acting (basal) insulins designed to provide continuous background glucose control throughout the day and night. All three act by binding to the human insulin receptor, stimulating cellular uptake of glucose, inhibiting hepatic glucose production, and regulating carbohydrate, fat, and protein metabolism. This combination would theoretically provide both basal (long-acting) and prandial (rapid-acting) glycemic coverage for patients with diabetes mellitus.
