Overview

Insulin aspart + insulin ultralente is a combination of two types of recombinant human insulins used for the management of diabetes mellitus. Insulin aspart is a rapid-acting insulin analogue, characterized by a substitution at position B28 (proline replaced with aspartic acid), which allows for faster absorption and onset compared to regular human insulin. It acts quickly to control postprandial (after meal) blood glucose spikes[3][6]. Insulin ultralente is an ultra-long-acting form of human insulin that provides basal (background) glycemic control over an extended period, mimicking endogenous basal insulin secretion[6]. The combination aims to provide both immediate and sustained blood glucose regulation in people with diabetes by covering both mealtime and fasting needs. This approach aligns with intensive basal-bolus regimens commonly used in type 1 and advanced type 2 diabetes management.
