Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Oral-lyn (marketed as Oral Recosulin in India) is a buccal spray formulation of recombinant human insulin developed by Generex Biotechnology and licensed to Shreya Life Sciences. It utilizes the proprietary RapidMist device to deliver insulin to the buccal mucosa, where it is rapidly absorbed into the systemic circulation, bypassing the lungs and avoiding the need for subcutaneous injections. Designed for prandial (mealtime) glucose control, it targets the insulin receptor to facilitate glucose uptake in patients with type 1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus. The product was first approved and launched in India in 2008.
