insulin human + rapid-acting insulin analogs is a combination therapy typically used in the treatment of diabetes mellitus, especially in patients who require both the baseline (basal) insulin effect and quick post-meal (prandial) glucose lowering. It consists of human insulin (biosynthetic or recombinant) and one or more rapid-acting insulin analogs, such as insulin lispro, insulin aspart, or insulin glulisine. Rapid-acting analogs differ from human insulin by modifications in their amino acid sequence, which reduce self-association and enhance rapid absorption and action after subcutaneous administration[1][3][4][5][6][8]. Human insulin acts by binding to the insulin receptor, stimulating signaling pathways that promote glucose uptake in muscle and adipose tissue and inhibit hepatic glucose production. Rapid-acting analogs act similarly, but their structure allows quicker onset and shorter duration, thus better controlling postprandial glucose spikes. These combination regimens are formulated for flexible glycemic control and may be delivered via multiple daily injections or insulin pumps.
