insulin-like growth factor binding protein 6 siRNA is a small interfering RNA (siRNA) designed to target and silence the expression of the IGFBP-6 gene. IGFBP-6 is a member of the insulin-like growth factor binding protein family that primarily sequesters insulin-like growth factor 2 (IGF-2), thereby inhibiting its interaction with the IGF-1 receptor and modulating cell growth and survival. In breast cancer research, knockdown of IGFBP-6 using siRNA has been shown to induce cell cycle arrest in the G1 phase, decrease Cyclin B1 levels, and activate interferon signaling pathways. This mechanism suggests that IGFBP-6 plays a role in promoting the G1 to S transition and G2/M progression in certain hormone-responsive and triple-negative breast cancer cell lines, making its silencing a potential therapeutic strategy to inhibit tumor cell proliferation.
