Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Insulin lispro + glucagon** is a hypothetical or investigational fixed-dose combination of two biologic peptide hormones: **insulin lispro**, a rapid-acting insulin analog, and **glucagon**, a peptide hormone that raises blood glucose by promoting hepatic glucose release. Insulin lispro lowers blood glucose by facilitating cellular glucose uptake, while glucagon counteracts hypoglycemia by stimulating glycogenolysis and gluconeogenesis. Both are primarily approved as individual agents for diabetes management—insulin lispro for lowering postprandial glucose and glucagon for emergency hypoglycemia treatment. There is no evidence from authoritative regulatory sources or the medical literature that a combination product containing both active ingredients is currently marketed or has received regulatory approval. This combination would be theoretically used in diabetes to provide both fast-acting glucose reduction and immediate counter-regulation, but is not a commercially available drug.
