Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Insulin lispro, insulin aspart, and insulin glulisine are rapid-acting recombinant human insulins used to manage hyperglycemia in people with diabetes mellitus. These analogs are designed for subcutaneous injection and have a faster onset and shorter duration of action compared to regular human insulin. They act by binding to the human insulin receptor, stimulating glucose uptake into muscle and fat tissue while inhibiting hepatic glucose production. Insulin lispro is marketed under brand names such as Humalog, Admelog, and Lyumjev; insulin aspart under NovoLog and Fiasp; and insulin glulisine under Apidra[1][3][6]. All three are primarily indicated for glycemic control in type 1 and type 2 diabetes[8].
