Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Insulin lispro mix25 is a premixed combination of two human insulin analogs used to control blood glucose in people with diabetes mellitus. It contains 25% rapid-acting insulin lispro and 75% intermediate-acting insulin lispro protamine. The rapid-acting component allows for quick onset of action, while the protamine-bound form provides prolonged activity. Insulin lowers blood glucose by stimulating peripheral glucose uptake (mainly in muscle and fat) and inhibiting hepatic glucose production. It also inhibits lipolysis and proteolysis while enhancing protein synthesis. Insulin lispro mix25 is administered subcutaneously within 15 minutes before a meal to manage both type 1 and type 2 diabetes[1][3][5][7].
