Overview

InsulinCytes is an autologous cell therapy consisting of insulin-producing cells derived from a specific subset of adult CD34-positive (CD34+) hematopoietic stem cells. The therapeutic process involves mobilizing the patient's stem cells from the bone marrow using Granulocyte Colony-Stimulating Factor (G-CSF), followed by collection via leukapheresis and isolation of the CD34+ subset using immunoselection. These cells are expanded and differentiated *ex vivo* in a GMP-compliant facility into cells capable of secreting insulin and C-peptide. The final cell product is delivered directly into the body and tail of the pancreas via selective catheterization of the splenic artery. This treatment is investigated as a regenerative approach for patients with Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes to restore endogenous glycemic control and reduce insulin dependency.
