INT-214 (also known as Nasal SAL200) is an intranasal, endolysin-based therapeutic formulation of tonabacase (SAL200) being developed by iNtRON Biotechnology. It is designed as a pre-operative nasal decolonization agent to eliminate *Staphylococcus aureus* (including methicillin-resistant strains, or MRSA) from the nasal cavity, thereby preventing surgical site infections (SSIs) and other hospital-acquired infections. The active ingredient, tonabacase, is a recombinant phage-encoded endolysin (SAL-1) derived from the *Staphylococcus*-specific bacteriophage SAP-1. It acts by physically binding to and enzymatically hydrolyzing the peptidoglycan in the bacterial cell wall, leading to rapid osmotic lysis and cell death. INT-214 is currently in Phase 1/2a clinical development following IND approval by the South Korean Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS).
