Overview

Dacarbazine is a synthetic antineoplastic agent classified as an alkylating agent and used primarily in the treatment of metastatic malignant melanoma and Hodgkin's disease. It acts as a prodrug that is metabolized in the liver to its active form, methyltriazenoimidazole carboxamide (MTIC), which exerts cytotoxic effects mainly through DNA methylation and inhibition of DNA synthesis. Integrins are not a drug but rather a large family of heterodimeric transmembrane receptors involved in cell adhesion, migration, angiogenesis, immune cell invasion, and signal transduction. They are considered important drug targets in cancer therapy due to their role in tumor progression and metastasis. The combination "integrin + dacarbazine" refers to investigational or experimental regimens where integrin inhibitors (not specified here) may be combined with dacarbazine for synergistic anti-tumor effects; however, "integrin" itself is not an approved pharmaceutical product[1][2][3][4][5][6][8].
