INTERCEPT Fibrinogen Complex is a pathogen-reduced blood component designed for rapid fibrinogen supplementation in patients experiencing bleeding associated with fibrinogen deficiency. It is produced from plasma using the INTERCEPT Blood System for Cryoprecipitation, which employs amotosalen and UVA illumination to inactivate pathogens by cross-linking nucleic acids. The product contains high concentrations of fibrinogen, factor XIII, von Willebrand factor (vWF), and other key clotting proteins required for effective hemostasis. It is indicated for the treatment and control of bleeding—including massive hemorrhage—associated with fibrinogen deficiency; as second-line therapy for von Willebrand disease when specific products are unavailable; and to control uremic bleeding after other treatments have failed.
