This combination therapy, consisting of interferon α-2b, arsenic trioxide (ATO), and venetoclax, is being investigated by Zhejiang Provincial People's Hospital for the treatment of arsenic-resistant relapsed acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL). Interferon α-2b is a recombinant Type I interferon that exerts antiproliferative and immunomodulatory effects by binding to specific cell-surface receptors. Arsenic trioxide is a mainstay of APL treatment that induces the degradation of the PML-RARA fusion protein, leading to cell differentiation and apoptosis. Venetoclax is a potent, selective oral B-cell lymphoma 2 (BCL-2) inhibitor that restores the apoptotic process in cancer cells. This triplet regimen is designed to overcome therapeutic resistance in patients who have failed standard arsenic-based induction and consolidation therapies.
