**interferon gamma-1b + rituximab** is a non-standard combination of two biologic drugs: interferon gamma-1b, a recombinant form of human interferon gamma (a cytokine), and rituximab, a chimeric monoclonal antibody targeting CD20 on B cells. Interferon gamma-1b modulates immune responses and enhances pathogen killing, while rituximab induces B-cell depletion through antibody-dependent cell-mediated cytotoxicity, complement-dependent cytotoxicity, and apoptosis, primarily used to treat B-cell malignancies and autoimmune diseases. Reports of combining these agents exist in the context of severe immunodeficiency syndromes or off-label settings (e.g., anti-interferon gamma autoantibody syndromes), where rituximab is used to deplete pathogenic B-cells producing autoantibodies, while exogenous interferon gamma-1b supports immune function.
