Interferon-gamma messenger RNA aNP is an experimental immunotherapy consisting of messenger RNA (mRNA) encoding interferon-gamma (IFN-γ) encapsulated within apolipoprotein A1 nanoparticles (aNPs). Developed by Biotrip B.V. in collaboration with the Eindhoven University of Technology and Radboud University Medical Center, this platform utilizes proprietary ionizable lipids (such as HMJ1) to preferentially deliver the mRNA cargo to secondary lymphoid organs, including the spleen and lymph nodes. By targeting these sites, the drug aims to induce localized production of IFN-γ by immune cells like monocytes and macrophages, thereby stimulating a robust anti-tumor immune response while minimizing systemic toxicity. Preclinical studies in melanoma models have demonstrated significant inhibition of tumor growth and improved survival.
