SET Technology's interleukin-12 (IL-12) gene therapy is a DNA/RNA-based treatment designed for veterinary oncology applications. Utilizing the company's proprietary Synthetic Expression Technology (SET), the therapy delivers genetic instructions to animal cells to produce IL-12, a potent proinflammatory cytokine. This localized production of IL-12 is intended to activate T cells and natural killer (NK) cells, enhancing the immune system's ability to recognize and destroy tumor cells. By focusing on local expression, the therapy aims to achieve robust antitumor effects while avoiding the severe systemic toxicities often associated with the administration of recombinant IL-12 protein. The program is currently in Phase 3 clinical development for various animal cancers.
