Overview
This is an investigational **combination therapy** of interleukin 18, an immune cytokine, and pegylated liposomal doxorubicin, a chemotherapeutic agent. **Interleukin 18** is a cytokine involved in stimulating immune responses, predominantly by increasing interferon gamma production, augmenting natural killer cell activity, and enhancing cytotoxic T cell responses. **Pegylated liposomal doxorubicin** is a formulation of doxorubicin (an anthracycline chemotherapeutic agent) encapsulated in PEG-coated liposomes for prolonged circulation and preferential tumor targeting via the enhanced permeability and retention effect[1][3][4]. This combination is being explored for **oncology indications**, hypothesized to boost antitumor efficacy through chemotherapy-induced tumor cytotoxicity with immune system activation via interleukin 18.
