Interleukin-2 modified Renca cells are a type of tumor vaccine consisting of Renca renal cell carcinoma cells genetically engineered to express and produce interleukin-2 (IL-2). These modified cells are used in preclinical studies, specifically in a mouse model of pulmonary metastasis, to elicit an antitumor immune response. The production of IL-2 by the tumor cells aims to enhance local and systemic immunity against the tumor, and has shown synergistic effects when combined with local radiation therapy.
