Intermedin (IMD), also known as adrenomedullin-2 (AM2), is an endogenous peptide belonging to the calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP)/calcitonin family. It functions as a ligand for the calcitonin receptor-like receptor (CLR) in complex with receptor activity-modifying proteins (RAMPs), specifically RAMP2 and RAMP3. This interaction mediates its physiological effects, which include vasodilation, regulation of blood pressure, and effects on cardiac function. It has been investigated for its therapeutic potential in conditions such as pulmonary hypertension and other cardiovascular and renal disorders.
