Drug intelligence / Profile preview
IntestAidIB is a nucleotide-based nutraceutical supplement developed by researchers at the University of East London for the management of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). The formulation provides dietary nucleotides, which are essential building blocks for the rapid turnover and repair of cells in the gastrointestinal (GI) tract and the immune system. By supporting gut mucosal integrity—specifically by increasing villus height and crypt depth—IntestAidIB aims to improve gut barrier function and alleviate IBS symptoms such as abdominal pain, bloating, and urgency. A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled crossover trial (ISRCTN67764449) demonstrated that the supplement provides modest, consistent improvements in most IBS symptoms with no reported side effects.
