Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Intestinal flora transplantation living capsule is a specific formulation of Fecal Microbiota Transplantation (FMT) delivered orally. It consists of live microorganisms processed from the feces of healthy, screened donors, which are then enclosed in a capsule. The primary goal of this therapy is to restore a healthy and diverse gut microbiome in the recipient to treat diseases associated with gut dysbiosis. The capsules are designed to be taken orally, offering a less invasive alternative to traditional FMT delivery methods like colonoscopy or enema. [9, 15] This form of therapy is under investigation for a wide range of conditions, including recurrent *Clostridioides difficile* infection (rCDI), inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis), obesity, and metabolic disorders such as type 2 diabetes.
