Overview

Intestinal Microbiota Transplantation (IMT) is a microbial therapy being developed and investigated by the University of Minnesota, specifically for patients undergoing colon resection due to diverticulitis or sigmoid colon cancer. The intervention involves the administration of a prepared solution containing a diverse community of live microorganisms derived from healthy donor feces. In this specific clinical protocol, the IMT solution is delivered via a nasogastric feeding tube on postoperative day 2 or 3, following the administration of intravenous antibiotics.
