Overview

This intranasal DNA vaccine for COVID-19 is being developed by AnGes, Inc. in collaboration with Osaka University and Stanford University School of Medicine. The vaccine utilizes a plasmid DNA-based formulation that encodes the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein. It is delivered through the nasal mucous membranes using Gold-Nanostar Octopod technology, which is designed to enhance delivery and potentially induce mucosal immunity. This program represents a strategic shift for AnGes, which discontinued its original intramuscular DNA vaccine (targeting the Wuhan strain) in September 2022 to focus on this improved intranasal formulation specifically designed to address COVID-19 variants.
