Overview

Bevacizumab is a monoclonal antibody that binds all isomers of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF). When administered intravitreally (IVB), it is used to treat various eye conditions including diabetic macular edema (DME) and neovascular age-related macular degeneration (ARMD). IVB works by preventing the growth of certain types of blood vessels to abnormal tissues, decreasing the growth of these tissues by starving the cells of nutrients needed to grow. The typical dose for intravitreal injection is 1.25 mg.
