INV-17 is an investigational small molecule drug developed by Innovimmune Biotherapeutics. It acts as an inverse agonist of the nuclear receptor ROR-gamma (RORγ or RORγt), which is a master regulator of T helper 17 (TH17) cells. TH17 cells play a critical role in the pathogenesis of several autoimmune diseases. By modulating RORγt, INV-17 aims to suppress pathogenic TH17 cell activity and reduce inflammation associated with autoimmune conditions. Preclinical studies have demonstrated efficacy in models of rheumatoid arthritis and multiple sclerosis, suggesting potential as an oral disease-modifying antirheumatic drug (DMARD) for various TH17-mediated autoimmune diseases[1][2][3].
