Overview

INV-347 is a next-generation, orally administered small molecule drug that acts as a peripherally selective cannabinoid receptor 1 (CB1) blocker. It is designed to preferentially block CB1 receptors in peripheral tissues such as the kidneys, gastrointestinal tract, liver, pancreas, adipose tissue, muscle, and lungs. By targeting the CB1 pathway—which plays a key role in regulating energy metabolism and appetite—INV-347 aims to reduce body weight and improve metabolic parameters. The drug is currently being developed for the treatment of obesity and potentially other metabolic disorders. Originally developed by Inversago Pharma, INV-347 entered phase 1 clinical trials in January 2024 under Novo Nordisk following their acquisition of Inversago Pharma[2][3][6][7].
