Investigational lipid eye drops

Investigational lipid eye drops are a lipid-based lubricating formulation developed by Johnson & Johnson Vision Care, Inc. for the management of dry eye syndrome, particularly in individuals who wear contact lenses. These drops are designed to mimic and supplement the natural lipid layer of the tear film, which is essential for preventing the evaporation of tears and maintaining ocular surface stability. In clinical evaluations, such as the Phase 1 study NCT04181437, the formulation was tested to ensure that the addition of lipids does not adversely affect visual acuity in soft contact lens wearers while providing lubrication compared to non-lipid-based drops like Blink Tears.
