Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Invixia (also referred to as InVixa) is an inhaled statin therapy being developed for the treatment of COVID-19 pneumonia and Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS). Developed by InVixa with investment from Therma Bright, the therapy utilizes a proprietary statin formulation delivered via inhalation to achieve high local therapeutic concentrations in the lungs while minimizing systemic exposure. The mechanism of action involves inhibiting the mevalonate pathway to modulate the hyper-inflammatory immune response (cytokine storm) that causes severe respiratory failure in COVID-19 and ARDS patients. As of 2024, the development program is in the preclinical stage.
