IO140

IO140 is an investigational peptide-based cancer vaccine developed by IO Biotech that targets APOBEC3B (Apolipoprotein B mRNA Editing Enzyme Catalytic Subunit 3B). APOBEC3B is a DNA cytidine deaminase that is frequently upregulated in various cancers, where it acts as a major source of endogenous DNA mutations, leading to genomic instability and tumor heterogeneity. By targeting APOBEC3B-expressing cells, IO140 is designed to induce a specific T-cell response to eliminate cells contributing to the mutational burden and immune evasion of the tumor. This approach aims to reduce tumor evolution and enhance the efficacy of other immunotherapies, such as checkpoint inhibitors, by addressing a key driver of cancer mutagenesis.
