Iodine-131 aiketuximab is a radioimmunotherapeutic agent comprising the murine monoclonal antibody aiketuximab labeled with the radioisotope iodine-131. Developed by Shanghai Haikang Traditional Chinese Medicine Technology Development, it specifically targets the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), a protein frequently overexpressed in solid tumors such as colorectal, gastric, and pancreatic cancers. The antibody serves as a vehicle to deliver the beta-emitting iodine-131 directly to the tumor site, where the radiation induces DNA double-strand breaks and subsequent apoptosis in malignant cells.
