iodine 131-labeled COL-1 is a radiolabeled monoclonal antibody therapy composed of the murine monoclonal antibody COL-1 conjugated with radioactive iodine isotope Iodine-131. The antibody (COL-1) specifically targets carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA), which is overexpressed in many gastrointestinal malignancies. Upon administration, the radiolabeled antibody binds to CEA-expressing tumor cells and delivers targeted beta radiation from Iodine-131, resulting in localized cytotoxicity and tumor cell death. This approach combines immunotargeting with radiotherapy for selective destruction of cancer cells while sparing most normal tissues. It has been evaluated primarily in patients with advanced gastrointestinal cancers such as colon, pancreatic, and gastric cancers[5].
