Iodine-131-labelled AUA1 is a radiolabeled monoclonal antibody consisting of the murine-derived monoclonal antibody AUA1 conjugated with the radioisotope iodine-131. AUA1 targets epithelial cell membrane antigen (EMA), which is abundantly expressed in a variety of epithelial cancers, particularly carcinomas of the ovary, breast, and colon. The iodine-131 component emits beta and gamma radiation, allowing both imaging and targeted cytotoxic therapy of tumors expressing the antigen. Iodine-131-labelled AUA1 has been researched primarily as a potential radioimmunotherapeutic and imaging agent for identifying and treating EMA-positive tumors.
