Visipaque + SonoVue is a combination diagnostic imaging protocol utilizing the X-ray contrast agent Visipaque (iodixanol) and the ultrasound contrast agent SonoVue (sulfur hexafluoride microbubbles). Visipaque, developed by GE Healthcare, is a non-ionic, iso-osmolar contrast medium (IOCM) used primarily in coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA) to detect coronary artery stenosis. SonoVue, developed by Bracco, is a second-generation ultrasound contrast agent composed of sulfur hexafluoride gas microbubbles stabilized by a phospholipid shell, used to enhance endocardial border detection and myocardial perfusion during echocardiography. This combination is frequently employed in clinical research to provide a comprehensive assessment of both the anatomical structure and functional status of the coronary arteries in patients with suspected coronary artery disease.
