Drug intelligence / Profile preview
IP1 control cream (Vehicle base) is a topical pharmaceutical formulation developed by Birch BioMed Inc to serve as the vehicle control in clinical trials for their lead candidate, FS2 (kynurenic acid). It is specifically utilized in Phase 2/3 studies (such as NCT06807021) targeting the mitigation of cutaneous scarring in burn patients who have undergone skin graft surgery. The vehicle base is identical in composition to the active FS2 cream but does not contain the active metabolite kynurenic acid, allowing researchers to isolate the therapeutic effects of the drug from the effects of the cream base itself. It is applied to both skin graft and donor sites after healing has occurred to assess baseline safety and comparative efficacy.
