iPCV22

iPCV22 is a 22‑valent pneumococcal conjugate vaccine in development by Aeolian Biotech to provide broader and more up‑to‑date serotype coverage for prevention of pneumococcal disease, particularly pneumonia and invasive pneumococcal disease, in adults and later pediatric populations.[6][9][10][19] Designed as a next‑generation improvement over existing pneumococcal conjugate vaccines, iPCV22 uses capsular polysaccharides from contemporary Streptococcus pneumoniae serotypes conjugated to a carrier protein to elicit T‑cell–dependent, high‑affinity antibody responses, with the aim of covering approximately 95% of invasive pneumococcal disease in adults.[4][6][19] Aeolian’s development strategy includes initial adult vaccination, followed by booster and infant formulations and eventual adaptations for use in low‑ and middle‑income countries.[9][10]
