Overview

iPETRA, also known as P-TEA (Personalized Tissue-Engineered Artery), is an autologous tissue-engineered vascular graft being developed by Froceth in collaboration with Verigraft, RISE Research Institutes of Sweden, and Sahlgrenska University Hospital. The product is designed for the treatment of peripheral artery disease (PAD), specifically targeting patients who require vascular bypass but lack suitable autologous veins. The technology utilizes a decellularized donor artery scaffold that is recellularized with the patient's own peripheral blood-derived cells. This process creates a personalized, living blood vessel that is immunologically compatible with the recipient, potentially eliminating the risk of rejection and the need for long-term immunosuppression while providing superior patency compared to synthetic grafts.
